The quality I like best about this book is that it is very clear about HOW to do everything. A lot of marketing books can give vague descriptions or just talk about different tactics. Mr. Tasner’s book provides a definite guide to actually implementing marketing tactics.

And the marketing tactics aren’t just the same old stuff you’re used to reading about. It’s full of new ideas! One example that really stuck out to me is using virtual reality worlds for business. I did not realize that Web 3.0 was already happening, but Mr. Tasner gives a very convincing argument. He backs up his findings with facts and then gives you all the latest marketing tactics you can utilize. And again, he doesn’t just state the tactics, he gives you clear, concise calls to action.

Overall, I think this is a great new marketing book, especially if you are a marketing novice. You’ll get an understanding of the basics, as well as insights into the newest online marketing trends.

I just finished reading “Marketing in the Moment” by Michael Tasner and found it to be a helpful guide to Web 3.0 (as well as 2.0). He opens the book with a 360-Degree review of your web platform and marketing efforts. This is the type of transparency that customers will find refreshing, and it will enable you to custom design your products and services. I also like the way the book is structured, in that he introduces a new topic, fully explains it and then closes with a step-by-step “To Do” list to ease implementation. I’m going to start with Mobile Marketing. I will add “Cell Phone Number” to my opt-in box and sign up with a text-messaging company. I agree that it makes sense to get in on this type of marketing now, not only to use it as a marketing tool, but to also establish yourself as an expert in your field. He closes with a SWOT analysis and SMART goals, which I actually did, and it got me thinking about my competition. I’m in start-up mode now, and it’s difficult to see beyond the next deadline. This book was full of useful information, easy to read and taught me things I didn’t know anything about, like Virtual Reality Worlds. I highly recommend this book to anyone who owns a business (large or small) or is in online marketing.

It was not clear to me where Web 2.0 becomes Web 3.0. The book says Web 3.0 is about mobile, twitter, texting, video etc. It has one title “From Blogging to Microblogging(like Twitter)” – I do not believe one replaces the other (and the book also advocates both) – they just have different purposes. And I do both.

The book is written as a how to guide which would make it useful to the novice. It also has many calls to action and correctly notes that knowing and not doing is the same as not knowing. So get out and do.

My experience with media is the newer the media, the better value it tends to offer since people do not yet understand its value. So it is logical to me to understand newer medias as a way to get marketing value.

In addition to Blogging and Twitter, the book explores some areas that I do not yet do much with like:

    1 – Mobile Marketing

    2 – Virtual worlds

3 – video marketing (I know this is huge – I am just not a video person)

    4 – Open source code

    5 – Web Apps

The book ended with a chapter called “The Art of Giving Back”. When I was reading the chapter titles, I assumed he meant giving back value through posting things of value. My personal social media strategy is to try to add value 95+% of the time to the reader and only ask for the readers to buy or help me at most 5%. And I reviewed a book recently on Internet for Non-Profits on the Karma411 site and thought it might have to do with that.

But the final chapter was really about charity and donating. He advocates generosity. Interesting way to end the book and it did make me feel warmer towards the author.

Good Book. Good How To guide.

I will admit that I was a bit skeptical on this whole “web 3.0 thing” heck, I thought we were still in a web 2.0 era, but the author made some solid points to show the shift that’s already been made. What shocks me, was I really didn’t see it coming! The book was a solid read and is full of easy to implement techniques. Most of the time I walk away confused, that was the opposite with this book! I’m giving it 5 stars (which I don’t do often).
